A total of 30 people have been infected by Campylobacter jejuni across 13 states, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a statement on Tuesday. No deaths have been reported. The sick range from eight months old to 70 years old, with cases spread across Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah and Wyoming. Research released this week predicts that U.S. cases could drop below 50,000, hospitalizations to fewer than 1,000, and deaths to between 200 and 300 a week. The CDC’s current reporting puts new cases at about 350,000 a week and 4,000 deaths.
