When the pituitary gland is damaged via surgery, tumor, head injury, or illness, deficiencies of ADH arise and the free water regulatory mechanism between the brain and kidney is disrupted. Without appropriate secretions of ADH, the kidneys are unable to concentrate urine. A person with central diabetes insipidus usually passes an abnormally high amount of urine and feels the need to drink more water to replace the fluid they have lost as a result....

Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar has expressed his gratitude towards relegated side QPR for signing him last season. Cesar signed a four-year deal with the London based club last August after a move from Inter Milan. Among the threats, three workers surveying the small town of Eitzen claimed that three men blocked their path using two cars. One of the men had a holstered gun. Though the workers were allowed to leave and didn’t file a police report, other workers reported being shouted at and insulted at people’s front doors or being angrily approached on the street. One Latina worker said she was called a particular anti-Latino racist slur “more in the last week than in her entire life,” state senior epidemiology supervisor Stephanie Yendell told the Star Tribune....

A CDC website last updated on Monday shows Delta is among the variants that are a concern because of increased transmissibility, more severe disease and reduced effectiveness of treatments or vaccines, among other evidence of the impact on diagnostics and treatments. However, experts said the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are effective against the Delta strain. Federal officials are continuing to study the effectiveness of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine against the variant, as the AstraZeneca vaccine has proved effective overseas and the two are built on a similar platform....

Last week, the CDC recommended second booster doses—a fourth shot for many people—for certain immunocompromised individuals and people over the age of 50 as long as they had received their initial booster dose at least four months prior.
